Altec Laguna

Hi,

May I know if the Laguna is an infinite baffle design with 2 x 416? Does anybody know the effective volume of the laguna cabs?

It's a bass reflex with driver-in-port layout like the original Valencia. I don't remember the net Vb and can't find my notes, so will have to calc it from the drawing later when I have more time.

Hi GM, pls take a look at this internal picture of the Laguna, seems like an infinite baffle as I cannot locate the port.

Aren't there ports on each side of the horn that have been boarded up in that pic?

What ya'll are seeing is the 1" fiberglass insulation covering the port on both sides and across the top. It's required on this design to make it ~aperiodic since the cab's volume is much too small for dual 803s driven with the high output impedance amps of the day without sounding excessively under-damped ('boomy').

I found a drawing in the Lansing Heritage - Altec Library that looks like the Laguna its says 500 Hz Home VOTT. Is the dimensions same as the Laguna?

OK, it's ~8.3 ft^3 net with 511/802 and dual 803B (416A).

It's net Vb is actually slightly bigger than the original, so that's fine as it needs more bracing.
